We are thrilled to announce that Netflix has officially renewed Anikulapo for another exciting season!

Directed by Kunle Afolayan, this new season touches on Nigerian history and culture, including the slave trade, while following the unique and captivating storyline loved by many.

Filmed in Oyo State and Ghana, Anikulapo is set to expand beyond the Oyo Empire, bringing fresh locations, international actors, and compelling new storylines.

Anikulapo Season Summary

This season begins with a daring escape from the underworld, where a dark transformation unfolds as one character discovers the ability to regenerate by stealing the life force of others.

This sinister power brings chaos and death, with Oyo falling into turmoil.

New characters like Prince Aderoju, the Alaafin’s son, enter the scene, embarking on a daring mission to rescue his enslaved sister, Omowunmi, from the Portuguese.

Meanwhile, Awarun is embroiled in dangerous business dealings, and Akin and Arolake’s love is tested as Ogunjimi’s return sets the stage for an epic showdown.

Awolaran finds love, only to be betrayed again by a close relative, while Omowunmi endures captivity as her betrothed fights to win her heart.

The season explores the far-reaching effects of power, blood, and soul, making it one of the most gripping installments yet.

Anikulapo was filmed in stunning locations that enriched the story’s depth and authenticity.

Including KAP Film Village in Igbojaye and Komu in Oyo State, Boti Waterfalls, and Elmina Castle in Ghana.
