The Art of technology 5.0 and the Creative Economy
On December 7, 2023, Lagos hosted the Art of Technology Lagos 5.0 event, featuring Tubosun Alake, the Special Adviser on Innovation and Technology to Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The event united visionaries, leaders, and enthusiasts alike to explore the intersection of technology and creativity in the digital age.
Mr. Kunle Afolayan ignited the stage with insights during his opening keynote speech at the event themed “Creative Economy and a Digital Lagos.” He eloquently articulated the symbiotic relationship between technology and creativity.
Following suit, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu took the stage, emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in fostering creativity and driving economic growth.
One of the highlights of Governor Sanwoolu’s address was the announcement of an upcoming bill dedicated to innovation in the creative industry.
Set for the first quarter of 2024, this legislation aims to spark innovation, offering crucial support to Lagos’s thriving creative community.
THE POWER OF TECHNOLOGY
Governor Sanwoolu stressed technology’s role in empowering the creative economy, outlining plans for a digital future fostering talent and innovation.
Mr. Afolayan praised Nigerian filmmakers’ resilience on global platforms like Netflix, emphasizing that improved internet access could boost Netflix’s subscribers in Nigeria, transforming the creative landscape into a numbers game.
Furthermore, Mr Afolayan disclosed KAP Film & Television Academy’s plan to partner with government bodies.
This will ensure sustainable support for aspiring creatives and overcome financial barriers in Lagos and Nigeria.
