The Ghoul Returns: Aníkúlápó Season 2 Is Now Streaming on Netflix
Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens (Season 2), directed and produced by Kunle Afolayan, is now streaming exclusively on Netflix, continuing the epic saga that began with the 2022 film and expanded with Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre.

To celebrate this milestone, we hosted a memorable watch party on January 28 at KAP Film Village & Resort – the very place where so much of this story was filmed. It was a beautiful evening of community, storytelling, and pride in Nigerian cinema.

Celebrating the Creative Forces Behind the Series
The purpose of the night was to honor the heart and craft behind this season: the brilliant cast, the hardworking crew, and the partnership between KAP and Netflix that continues to bring African stories to global audiences.

The event was attended by seasoned industry veterans and dynamic young talents alike, all there to celebrate the art of film and the power of shared stories.
Returning Talent and New Faces Lighting Up Season 2
The season sees the return of some of Nollywood’s most compelling and beloved performers like Sola Sobowale, Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Owobo Ogunde, Taiwo Hassan, Gabriel Afolayan, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, and Eyiyemi Afolayan, among others.

Their performances bring continuity, emotional weight, and a familiar intensity that anchors the world of Aníkúlápó.
At the same time, The Ghoul Awakens introduces Adeoluwa Okusaga (Saga) and Bukunmi “KieKie” Adeaga-Ilori, while also marking the acting debut of Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

They are joined by Teniola Aladese, Antar Laniyan, Saidi Balogun, Joke Muyiwa, Tayo Faniran, and Fela Makafi whose performances expand the emotional and narrative scope of this new chapter.
A Night to Remember at KAP Film Village & Resort
The watch party was more than an event; it was a vibrant celebration of the arts, a moment where film, culture, and community converged.

The evening was beautifully attended by a cross-section of voices who bring life to Nigerian culture and creativity in different ways. Among them was Ibrahim Chatta and Fathia Balogun, whose presence exuded the wisdom of seasoned storytellers.
We were also honoured by the presence of Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture; Qudus Onikeku of the Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History; and Shaibu Husseini, Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board.

They were joined by respected voices and cultural figures including Olumide Iyanda, Steve Ayorinde, Olalekan Fabilola of Masoyinbo, Titi Kuti, Boda Shaggy, Dotun Popoola, Femi Obat, and many other friends and allies whose work continues to shape, strengthen, and connect Nigeria’s creative ecosystem.

It was one of those nights where the applause went beyond the screen—loud, deserved, and for the people. For the artists, the builders, the risk-takers, the mentors, and the quiet champions who make stories like Aníkúlápó: The Ghoul Awakens happen.
Even more powerful was seeing young actors and rising creatives in the room—watching, learning, and clearly ready to take their turn in shaping the future of African cinema.
Huge thanks to Air Peace, our airline sponsor, for supporting the project and helping us bring this moment together.
