EXCLUSIVE: Watch the Private Screening of Citation at Obafemi Awolowo University
Guess you were excited about the unveiling of Ibukun Awosika, I mean, the entire internet was flooded with the news about her first and only movie feature, Citation, produced by the award winning producer & director, Kunle Afolayan. If you want to catch up on this trend, click (here)
As promised, we are here with the exclusive from the private screening of Citation. But first, a little backstory on our journey. It began in 2018 with the pre-production of Citation. Then we moved on to the production phase in January 2020 and shot in 3 amazing countries: Nigeria, Cape Verde and Senegal. Finally, on the 30th of August, to honor our promise to show citation first at Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy, we officially had the first private screening of Citation at the institution.
Welcoming both the principal authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University and friends of the institution, the screening began with a moment of silence for the late Katherine Temitayo Oyeyemi whose passing was felt deeply by the entire crew. After the opening speech by both the Vice Chancellor, Eyitope Ogunbodede and our CEO, Kunle Afolayan, the screening began… the oohhs, ahhs and laughter at the venue were priceless! They were totally hooked! 😁
In line with our advocacy initiative to empower and educate females on ways they can tackle sexual based crimes in the University, the goal of the feature film is to educate students on how they can address the issue when encountered.
Oh, did we mention Citation is still available for private screening in September and October, 2020?
