While Kunle Afolayan is a celebrated figure in the film industry, with numerous accolades to his name as a director and producer, “SWALLOW,” a remarkable project co-written by him and the Nigerian-American author Seffi Attah, stands as a testament to his exceptional talents.

This inclusion not only recognizes Kunle Afolayan’s remarkable contributions to the film industry but also reinforces the Academy’s unwavering commitment to enhancing diversity in its representation.

This year’s intake of 398 new members is notable for its commitment to diversity, with 40% being women and 34% hailing from underrepresented ethnic and racial backgrounds. Impressively, 52% of these new members originate from countries beyond the United States.

The organization also emphasized that the selection process for membership was based on professional qualifications in maintaining a continuous dedication to representation, inclusion, and equity.

Academy membership is open to film professionals involved in the creation of movies released in theaters. Members enjoy perks such as free general admission for a year, exclusive fast-track check-in, invitations to special events and movie screenings and discounts at the Academy Museum Store.
