It was a beautiful night for KAP MOTION/GOLDEN EFFECTS Pictures at the just concluded Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, held on the 20th of May 2023.
The night started great. The first award for Best Sound Editor in a film (ANIKULAPO) was given to Anu Afolayan.
It was the first win from ANIKULAPO’s sixteen nominations.
ANIKULAPO, an epic drama written by Sola Dada and directed by Kunle Afolayan, carted away 5 awards in several categories.
Other winning categories include;
Best Overall Movie – Kunle Afolayan
Best Indigenous Language (Yoruba) – Kunle Afolayan
Best Writer – Sola Dada
Best Sound Track – Kent Edunjobi
ANIKULAPO was the most watched non-English film on Netflix in 2022 and it is no surprise that it won Best Indigenous film.
Director, Kunle Afolayan, was accompanied on stage by his partner Mr Seun Soyinka, Veteran filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Bimbo Ademoye, Kent Edunjobi and other cast and crew of ANIKULAPO to receive the award for BEST MOVIE.
It was indeed a win for everyone who was part of the project.
Without a doubt, ANIKULAPO is the gift that keeps on giving.
In conclusion, if you thought ANIKULAPO the movie was good, be prepared to be supremely impressed by the 4 part series.
