Unveiling our Surprise Cast in the Movie Citation, Dr. Mrs Ibukun Awosika!

This is one major surprise we bet you didn’t see coming, and we have the entire exclusive!

It all began in 2018 with the pre-production of Citation, then we moved on to the production phase in January 2020 and shot in 3 amazing countries: Nigeria, Cape Verde and Senegal. Finally, on the 30th of August, we officially had the first private screening of Citation at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)!

Why OAU? Well, not only was Citation shot at the University, but our surprise cast is an alumnus of the school.

Written by our foremost screen writer, Tunde Babalola, Citation narrates the ordeals faced by a female postgraduate student who has to find a way of dealing with the awkward situation of sexual harassment from a popular male lecturer. Here’s the twist, Citation is not just about the act of sexual harassment, rather it’s centered on how to address such situation in the University. Truth be told, a lot of ladies in the universities are faced with this dilemma… but the question is, what should they do in such scenario? This birthed our advocacy initiative – to empower and educate females on ways they can tackle sexual based crimes in the University.

Private screening at OAU

To align with our advocacy initiative, we were determined to further enrich the community with the great lessons from Citation. This we executed through our 2020 CSR agenda, by showcasing Citation first at Obafemi Awolowo University – the very location the production was shot; a university highly notable for their zero-tolerance to sexual harassment. This is evident in their Anti Sexual Harassment policy (ASH Policy).

Now, the exciting gist for the day! While observing the COVID-19 preventive measures at the exclusive screening, it was an honour to welcome both the principal authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University and friends of the institution. This was the moment we unveiled our surprise cast😁

Introducing our surprise cast

Playing the role of the university faculty dean, heading the senate hearing panel of Moremi (Temi Otedola) and Lucien (Jimmy-Jean Louis), we present Dr. Mrs Ibukun Awosika!

You may know her as the chairman of First Bank Nigeria, an entrepreneur, an author, or a motivational speaker, but we know her for what she represents – women’s leadership, which is the sole objective of Citation. Her actions and initiatives for change in Africa, and women empowerment is one to be desired.

Citation is more than just a movie, it is value presented in an entertaining way. The goal is to propel women to become successful leaders and take a stand against sexual-based crimes. Many are in support of this movement, and at a time when these crimes are on the rise, we need to further enlighten ourselves on ways we can tackle this demise.

On that note, although Citation is ready but yet to be released, we are pleased to announce that it will be available for private screenings in September and October, 2020. All you’ve got to do is send us an email or indicate in the comment section, and we will take it from there.

PS: We know you’d love the exclusive from the private screening, don’t worry we’d share this in a bit… until then, swipe for some behind the scenes photos 😎

Ire 🙏
