Arewa International Film Festival 2026 Highlights Northern Nigerian Stories and Emerging Filmmakers
The Arewa International Film Festival (AIFF) 2026 held in January 2026, brought filmmakers, industry professionals, and film lovers together. The festival celebrated cinema from Northern Nigeria and across Africa.

AIFF continues to grow as a key platform for bold stories, emerging voices, and creative excellence in the Nigerian film industry.
A major highlight of the festival was a masterclass led by award-winning filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, founder of KAP Group. He spoke directly to young filmmakers about storytelling, film production, and building sustainable careers in the creative sector.

During the session, Afolayan stressed the value of cultural authenticity, strong narratives, and discipline. He urged emerging creatives to tell original African stories while developing skills that meet global standards.
The masterclass highlighted the importance of mentorship and structured training for young filmmakers.

The Arewa International Film Festival remains a strong hub for talent development, collaboration, and cultural representation.
Through film screenings, industry conversations, and learning sessions, AIFF continues to strengthen Nigeria’s creative ecosystem and create opportunities for the next generation.
