French Embassy in Nigeria Partners with KAP Academy for Filmmaking Masterclass
We’re still buzzing with excitement at KAP Film and Television Academy after the recently concluded Advanced Filmmaking Masterclass in partnership with the French Embassy in Nigeria.
From November 25 to December 16, 2024, we had 40 passionate, intermediate-level filmmakers join us on an incredible journey of learning, creating, and growing—and it was nothing short of amazing!
The program was designed to give industry insight and expert training of the key aspects of filmmaking: from screenwriting, directing, cinematography, and production design, to editing, sound, acting, and even the business of film.
But what really brought this program to life was the students’ energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
Under the mentorship of our industry giants—Kunle Afolayan, Tunde Kelani, Bimbo Akintola, Tunde Babalola, Ope Ajayi, and others—the participants were challenged to stretch their creative boundaries.
They developed scripts from scratch, received expert feedback, and turned their stories into actual short films while learning the importance of people management.
We watched these filmmakers step up, collaborating, scouting locations, managing budgets, designing sets, and directing their own projects.
It wasn’t just a masterclass; it was a bootcamp for building confidence and turning dreams into reality.
A huge shoutout to the French Embassy for believing in this vision and partnering with us to make it happen.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Christophe Pecot, the audiovisual attaché, French Embassy in Nigeria.
And to our students—you didn’t just take part; you owned it! We’re so proud of how far you’ve come, and we can’t wait to see the magic you’ll create in the future.
