KAP Film & Television Academy Partners with the U.S. Embassy to Bring an Exclusive Directing & Cinematography Workshop to Nigeria

KAP Film and Television Academy announces an amazing partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria!

This partnership brings forth an exciting new program – an intensive Directing and Cinematography Workshop, set to run from November 12th to November 16th.

This unique opportunity aims to develop the next generation of Nigerian filmmakers and creators by providing direct, hands-on experience with top U.S. industry professionals.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The workshop will be led by two renowned facilitators from the United States:

Angel Kristi Williams for the directing cinematography workshop at KAP ACADEMY

Angel Kristi Williams – an award-winning writer and director from West Baltimore, Angel will be leading the Directing Workshop. Known for her compelling storytelling, Angel has captivated audiences globally and will offer students exclusive insights into the world of directing, from conception to final cut.

Erin G. Wesley – a Los Angeles-born visual artist and cinematographer with extensive experience working with top brands like Target and Adidas.

Erin will lead the Cinematography Workshop, offering invaluable knowledge on visual storytelling, lighting, framing, and the nuances that make scenes unforgettable.

We’re excited to bring this immersive, high-quality training to Nigeria, and we can’t wait to see how these sessions will inspire our students.

Program Launch & Special Event – Reel Circle: Filmmaking Panel Discussion

The workshop will open with a special edition of our renowned Reel Circle event on November 12th.

Starting with a screening of IJA OMINIRA, the 1978 classic by Adeyemi Afolayan (AdeLove), followed by a compilation of scenes from his other iconic films, including Kadara, Iya ni Wura, and Taxi Driver.

This screening is designed to connect emerging filmmakers to Nigeria’s cinematic roots, showing how one director’s vision can shape an industry.

After the screening, join us for a panel discussion, Crafting the Director’s Journey, featuring Angel Kristi Williams, Erin G. Wesley, and Kunle Afolayan. They’ll share insights, challenges, and experiences in filmmaking.

We’re honored to welcome U.S. Consul General Will Stevens, who will open the event with a keynote speech.
