ANIKULAPO; Death & Life, The Rebirth Of Identity.

From generation to generation, the quality of human values are recycled. The once ominous red strip and cowries are now adornment, the beautiful ones are born and they birth what is, from what isn’t. 

The ones who were born before the beautiful ones think “these ones must be crazy”, the beautiful ones think “these ones are out of their mind” 

Who will reconcile the old with the new?

Here at KAP Motion Pictures & Golden Effects Pictures, we focus on tracing our way back to the roots till we get to the source. It’s only fair because a river that forgets its source dries up!

Kunle Afolayan’s recent budding movie production titled Anikulapo is the talk of the town not just because of its peculiarity in origin but because of the greatness it birthed – KAP Film Village, Studio & Resort, the icing on the cake is that it is one of his slate project in partnership with Netflix.

The film village sits on a mass of land totalling 40 acres where Anikulapo is currently being shot with all the infrastructures being built from scratch. There are over 300 men working on site to bring it to life. 

The movie dates back to the 17th century and plots around the old Oyo Empire. This entire production isn’t only audacious by virtue of the story but because it is the birth of a new dawn.

Basically, think Hollywood (the location and infrastructure), think KAP Film Village, Studio & Resort, because Kunle Afolayan isn’t building for the purpose of this movie alone but for the purpose of constant and repeated use.

Indeed, we are witnessing the birth of a new era as we watch the resort blossom before our very eyes.

We are witnessing in our days, the appreciation and rebirth of the almost dying Yoruba culture, we are experiencing the rise of hope for the heritage that was once thought to be lost.

Anikulapo – he who has death in his pouch. This could mean “he” has conquered death, it could also mean “he” is indebted to death, variably, it could also suggest that “he” is greater than death.

The riddle remains unsolved until Anikulapo is revealed for all to see.
