ADS Group Hosts Special Screening of “Citation” in Dakar, Senegal
2 Countries in 3 Days! All for the special screening of Citation in Senegal and Cape Verde.
Our first touchdown was at Youssou N’Dour‘s residence. The iconic artiste who played an integral part in the production of some of the soundtracks in Citation. After this welcoming visit, we arrived at the Canal Olympia in Dakar for the “Citation Partners Reception” on the 9th of April. This was hosted by the African Development Solutions Group (ADS Group).
The screening was attended by the Director and Producer of Citation, Kunle Afolayan alongside the Associate Producer, Mr Seun Soyinka, the founder/chairman of ADS Group, Mr Samba Bathily, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Temi Otedola, Gabriel Afolayan, amongst many others.
Starting off with the red-carpet event, complete with a host of paparazzi doing what they do best, the program began with Mr Afolayan being called on stage to say a few words and to introduce the movie (Citation). Afterwards, Mr Afolayan showed his appreciation to the founder, Mr Samba Bathily for his support in making the reception possible.
The version of Citation that was screened at the special screening was a 50mins extract from the film to show the collaboration potential and possibilities among African countries. Eventually, the special screening ended with an engaging panel to discuss what Citation stood for. In this discussion, Mr Bathily emphasized on how important it was to invest in movies from Africa. He went on to share his intentions of partnering with Kunle Afolayan to create top notch films with A-list actors from all African countries.
After the announcement of this intended collaboration, commendations and questions began pouring in from the attendees. This spectacular event brought Citation back to the list of top 10 movies trending on Netflix in Senegal!
