An Honorary Visit from the Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC) At the HUB.

On the 17th of May, we were honored with a special visit from Olubunmi Ayobami Amao, the Director-General of the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), and her 9 entourage.

During the visit, the Director-General expressed her admiration for Mr. Afolayan’s works and complimented his continuous efforts to uphold Nigeria’s culture through his productions. Trust me if you’ve watched any of Mr. Afolayan’s productions, you’d see where these complements were sieved from. 

The Director-General further mentioned that most of the collections especially artifacts and audio-visuals used during the Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC ’77) in 1977 were still intact, and as an organization, they believe that the younger generation should be informed and educated about this event. She also put forward her interest in partnering with our CEO and the company in making a documentary on these collections that were used during the Festival.

In case you’re wondering what this Festival gist is about, here’s a brief run-through; Festac ’77, also known as the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (the first was in Dakar, 1966), was a major international festival held in Lagos, Nigeria from the15th of January to the 12th of February 1977. This month-long event celebrated African culture and showcased to the world African music, fine art, literature, drama, dance, and religion.
